Volunteer Positions

Pack 565 strives to create many opportunities for its Scouts, but each event requires planning and supervision. Below is a description of volunteer positions that help the various events run smoothly.

January Events

Pinewood Derby Chair: Oversee event (January event)

Pinewood Derby Assistant Chair: assist chairman with event

Pinewood Derby Awards Chair: create the awards to be distributed at the event.

Pinewood Derby Check-In Judges (need two volunteers): handles the registration of cars and competitors

Pinewood Derby Set-up (need 2 volunteers): set up and pre-test the track.

Pinewood Derby Timers (need 2 volunteers): operates the timing system and computer program during the event

Pinewood Derby Car Wranglers (need 3 volunteers): manages the transportation and staging of the cars at the beginning of each Pinewood race.

Derby Pit Mechanics (need 2 volunteers): operates a pit area where there are tools and supplies available for last-minute repairs to registered cars

Pinewood Derby Design Judges (need 2 volunteers): reviews all registered cars and assigns winners for the various design awards


February Events

Blue & Gold Banquet Committee Chair: arrange and oversee event including decorations, food entertainment, setup & teardown (Feb event)

Blue & Gold Banquet Committee Members (need 2 volunteers): arrange and oversee event including decorations, food entertainment, setup & teardown (Feb event)

Web II Trip Coordinator: Arrange and coordinate the annual winter trip (i.e. USS Yorktown, Space Camp, USS Alabama, etc.) that usually takes place the first weekend of February.

 

March Events

Scouting for Food Drive Coordinator: locate a charity and arrange for food to be dropped off at charity, staple bags to announcement, put out and pick up bags (March)

Scouting for Food Drive Assistant: help with collecting & delivering donated food

Arrow of Light Ceremony Coordinator: arrange for event including the fire ceremony, arrow assembly and bridge construction (March event)

Arrow of Light Ceremony Committee Members (need 2 volunteers – should be Web II parents): help with the March event.


May/Summer Events

Pack Graduation Event Chair: oversee event including set-up, tear-down, etc. (May event) Note: This event rotates annually at East Cobb Park Memorial Day Flag Placement

Summer Activity Chair: Oversee event, coordinate involvement, record attendance.

Laser Tag Summer Activity Chair: oversee event, food (pizza, drinks, ice cream, popsicles), work on swimming belt loops for boys, etc (June event)

Bowling Party Summer Activity: oversee event, coordinates food and drink (July Event)

Pack Pool Party (bring a prospect): oversee event, food (pizza, drinks, ice cream, popsicles), work on swimming belt loops for boys, etc (August event)

Summer Resident Camp Coordinator: accept applications & registration fees; consolidate paperwork (June event)

Summer Resident Camp Coordinator: coordinate with day camp commissioners, registers attendees, gathers medical forms and recruits adult volunteers

Summer Resident Camp Volunteers (need 3 volunteers): attend Resident summer camp with scouts & work with camp activities

Summer Day Camp Coordinator: accept applications & registration fees; consolidate paperwork (June event)

Summer Day Camp Coordinator: coordinates with day camp commissioners, registers attendees, gathers medical forms and recruits adult volunteers

Summer Day Camp Volunteer (need 3 volunteers): teach sports during our summer camp & work with day camp activities

 

December Events

Holiday Meeting Co-Chair: oversee event (craft, snacks, charitable gift giving, Santa, LP singing)

Holiday Meeting Co-Chair: oversee event (responsible for craft and snack)

Toy Donation Coordinator: Coordinates the annual Pack toy collection and donation
