Scouting for Food Drive

posted Mar 3, 2009, 8:00 PM by cub leader

Pack 565 Families,

We would like all our boys to take part in the 2009 Scouting for Food drive that will take place over the next couple of weeks.  We will be collecting cans of food and other nonperishable items, such as shampoo, soap, diapers, toiletries, etc.  This is a real need for our Atlanta area charities this time of year because of the lack of donations after the holidays.

Working for the cause of a charity is one way we help our boys become better citizens in there community.  All boys who collect 50 items will receive a patch.

There are a couple ways to maximize your collection.  One way is to leave flyers around your neighborhood telling families when to leave the donations out.  Then you go by on that day and pick them up.  There is a sample flyer from Cindy Moran attached.  Before you print it out to make copies, make sure you change the name and the date and time to match your preferences.

Your Den may also be collecting cans as a group.  Your Den leader will let you know if that is the case.

We will need to collect all donations by March 21st, so we need to get moving on this.  We’ll let you know where to bring the donations later.  (It will be some central location.)

Also, see Reesa W.’s coupon not below (for those of you who love coupons).

Thanks,

Carl

As your families prepare for the 2009 Scouting for Food Drive, I want to direct your attention to a wonderful website:
www.couponmom.com

This website is run by a local East Cobb mom.  Her staff takes weekly store ads and pairs up the sale items with coupons from the Sunday paper.  On the left side of the homepage,  you will see a link titled Grocery Deals By State.  Click on the link then use the drop down menu to find what's on sale at national chains like Target and CVS as well as the local ads from Publix and Kroger.  If there is a coupon for the item, the date and specific coupon insert will be noted in the first column.

SS = Smart Source
RP = Red Plum
PG = Proctor & Gamble

You can check the stores on Sunday when the ads change (Thursday for Publix) to see if any items will be free with a coupon.

If you have any questions about this site please feel free to email me
or call me (after 2:00 please).

Thanks,

Reesa W.
