Pack 565 Swims and Parties!

Pack 565 Families,

Well last night was a doooozy.

Many kids and families came to the Princeton Mill pool to cool off one last time before school starts.  The water was churning all night long with the egg-beatering of Cub Scout legs and arms.

One of the first things we did was talk about water safety with the scouts and lifeguards.  Then we all took to the water like

We had some very hungry scouts.  In fact, our cook, Andy, had to run back to the store for more burgers and hot dogs.  Thanks, Andy for doing us proud in the cooking category.  We’re going to miss you, buddy.  That was the tastiest burger I ever had.

We played quite a few water games, but the what made the biggest splash (heh, heh) was the cannonball contest.  The boys and a few siblings performed their best cannonballs off the diving board.  We had four adult judges (Mr. Coles, Ms. Moran, Ms. Smith, and Mr. Matas) who scored all the dives.  Higher scores were awarded for wet judges.  The judges conferred and selected the top six finalists for a splash-off.  The best cannonballers were finally narrowed down to Nathan Smith and Trevor Hawkins.  In the  end, Nathan grabbed the top spot for splashability.

Then we introduced our 2008 popcorn campaign.  The boys are going to earn great prizes (more info to come on that).  However, those boys who can sell $500 worth of popcorn, including door-to-door AND show-and-sell, will earn the right to throw a pie into the face of certain Pack leaders.  Certain Pack leaders were not aware that they might be selected for this honor, but Adam Burke demonstrated to the other boys (on a certain Pack leader) what fun a pie-in-the-face can be.  See attached pictures.

We also collected quite a few school supplies for underprivileged kids at Eastvalley.  I’m very proud of Pack 565’s heart.

Thanks to all who came and made it a fun time!
Carl
