Laser Tag 2008

posted Aug 25, 2008, 4:57 PM by cub leader
Well, we had an awesome time last night playing laser tag -- running through the woods, getting exhausted, dirty, and sweaty.

We got a late start because an accident on I 75 Northbound delayed a few participants.  Then a thunderstorm rolled through.  But we got 7 or 8 games in after we started up.  The delay was only about 20 minutes.

I've played paint ball before, but this is a little better I think.  That's because I could take 9 hits before I had to go sit out instead of the normal just one paint ball splat.  Jeter and Susie Barnhill are clearly the masters of this sport.  They marched through the woods and triangulated on their target (me, more often than not) and just picked them off.  See the scary picture below.

It seems that every time I peeked around a too-small tree, I saw a green laser light pointed at me.  That's never a good sign.  After running for cover too many times, I needed a water break and gave my gun to Chuck Z.  That was the only game our red team won, but I'm sure that had nothing to do with it.

Every boy I talked to had a blast.  I'm sure all the Dads and Moms who played liked it way more than they expected.  It sure gives you a shot of adrenaline.  I'd like to thank our Captain, Nadim, for soldiering onward under the most dire circumstances and our General, Adelaide White, for holding out the longest in the Capture-the-General game.

Here are a couple sample photos from Susie Barnhill's camera.  Also click on the link at the bottom to be even more amazed.

Thanks everyone!  See you at the next event: bowling on July 22nd.  More to come on that.
Carl
